NEW KITCHEN PROJECT 2

cliff_webNick named, The Cliff House, the entertainment level is on the 3rd floor, cut into the side face of a hill.  The kitchen opens onto a back terrace, suitable for the grandest of parties and is open to the living and dining room areas – surrounded by glass and trees - A breath taking view.  Given this - the kitchen had to be equally breathtaking.

Three inch, square edged, cherry panels were used to create strong vertical and horizontal geometry within this custom kitchen that contrasts beautifully with the flat panel, natural anigre doors. These strong lines also contrast and compliment the sweeping curved islands.

Two over sized islands both serve as high functioning areas. The main central island, centered under a large skylight, has been designed as the prep/cooking island, while the long curved island, serves as the clean up area.  This island has 3 levels of Cosmic Black granite, floating and sliding into one another culminating in a 2” thick circular table top that appears to float and is supported by a conical, cherry leg attached to the anigre end panel. This island not only stands out as a statement in itself but visually separates the kitchen from the main entertaining areas.

Multiple, small details throughout this design create several focal points. Above and beyond what has been noted above…The walk in pantry, detailed specifically for the needs of our Client to the small, asymmetrical  open shelf detail to the custom full height cherry and textured glass, pocket doors leading to the pantry and home office – framing the main kitchen area. Two clerestory windows, precisely designed and located to flank the stainless steel chimney hood. This focal point is further strengthened by the small, glass mosaic wall that adds sparkle.

The sum of the parts equals the whole…. Elegance and refinement meet form and function in a very unique approach to kitchen design.  A lasting impression – indeed.

CUSTOM KITCHENS OVER 180-200 square feet

kitchen12Kitchens are more often than not, the nucleus of the home; especially when centrally located in an open concept floor plan.  Our Client’s love to entertain and wanted a large, contemporary kitchen that would leave a lasting impression.

The existing kitchen was non-descript and generic. The new kitchen has added storage space, a more open feel and far more impact.

Two light wood (maple and cherry) tones play off each other in the cabinetry, accentuated by the dramatic dark granite countertop that sweeps up the wall to create a backsplash. Modular back-lit cabinet doors provide indirect lighting, and subtle interest.

The warm wood tones are offset by the stainless steel accents – through appliances, appliance garages and handles. All the pieces contribute to the contemporary lines of this kitchen, creating impact where there had been none before.

The Client’s backyard is tremendously beautiful and in order to take full advantage of the view we removed the partition between the formal dining room and the kitchen – the site lines are now of the garden – not of a wall.  Again opening the kitchen up allows it to become the center of attention – as it should be!  Perfect for a party!
