As a great lover of Frank Lloyd Wright, it was once said of his work that the interior space of his homes were and are continuous with the outdoors, fusing the home with it’s site.  In speaking with our Clients during one of our first meetings, and upon seeing the incredible site on which we would be building, the design vision became clear…

The approach - for both the architecture and the interior design of this home to merge in both form and function in such a way that they became indistinguishable. Given the riverfront location it was critical to bring the exterior inside and the interior out – make them one.  As the exterior plays on shape, form and nature, we thought it important to carry this emphasis thru to the interior.

The winds off the river can be extreme at times.  It was decided that the outdoor pool would be sheltered by the home in an inner courtyard.  The vision of a combination of stone columns and maximum glazing came early in the design.  Maximum glazing allows for maximum views – in fact, from the pool, one can look right thru the living room curtain wall and on thru to the river.

The double sided fireplace between the living room and the inner pool courtyard is a beautiful focal point.  The massive stone chimney, seen thru the glazing in the living room is an added detail that adds visual interest.

The stone columns flanking the central, main corridor add further visual interest and also maximizes the view of the river and the inner pool courtyard.
The cathedral ceiling, up-lit by cove lighting adds a soft ambiance in the evening.  The repetition of the columns adds rhythm and a flare of understated elegance.

This open concept home was designed for entertaining day or night, inside or out. No matter where one looks, there is something beautiful to see – nature, architecture, detail.   A true example of functionality with artistic appeal.  Where the outdoors becomes one with the indoors.
